Iranian VP says Iran must be able to create an entrepreneur generation

Iran’s Vice President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-based Economy Rouhollah Dehghani Firouzabadi says knowledge-based companies are the best options for properly linking industries and universities.
Dehghani Firouzabadi was speaking at a ceremony marking the anniversary of establishing the office of technology and innovation of Iran’s Ministry of Science.
He said the first generation of Iran’s universities were tasked to offer scientific teaching in order to provide the workforce needed for industries and government agencies.
According to the vice president, the second generation universities were research-oriented and worked hard to train human resources for many years but now Iran needs a third generation of universities to teach students to become entrepreneurs and have their own businesses.
Dehghani Firouzabadi added that the fourth generation of universities must be able to have a social impact.
The vice president noted that the determination of the Ministry of Science and its subsidiaries show Iran is capable of achieving all these objectives.
Dehghani Firouzabadi highlighted the importance of innovation as a key component of the capability to attain the goals.
He said innovation trains an entrepreneur generation, adding that research leads to innovation and a the birth of a product, which is then linked to the production field.
