Iran exports medicinal thyme to Oman and Germany

A technological Iranian company manages to export thyme medicinal plant to Oman and Germany.
The CEO of the company says in Iran’s Hamedan Province, medicinal plants are cultivated in an area of 60 hectares, adding that two crops grown in the fields are exported to European countries. Milad Zahabi said the company focuses on the cultivation and production of thyme.
He also said there are some 35 species of thyme of which 11 ones are used in medicinal products.
Zahabi stressed that each species of thyme has a special shape, aroma and taste.
According to the CEO of the Iranian company, some species of thyme are also used in the food industry because thyme does not become bitter when exposed to heat.
He added that some other species of the plant are used in the pharmaceutical industry.
Zahabi underlined that the company prepared the seedlings of thyme in cooperation with a university in Hamedan and that these seedlings are given to farmers and then the farmers are given cultivation training.
