Iranian VP visits InnoWeek 2023 expo in Uzbekistan capital
Iranian Vice President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-based Economy Rouhollah Dehghani Firouzabadi visits the InnoWeek 2023 exhibition in Uzbekistan’s capital Tashkent.
Dehghani, has traveled to Uzbekistan at the invitation of the country’s Minister of Higher Education Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov.
Dehghani and Abdurakhmonov visited various sections of the expo in the Uzbek capital.
In the exhibition, in addition to various Uzbek companies and organizations, 25 Iranian knowledge-based companies have put on display their latest technological achievements to visitors in the form of the Islamic Republic of Iran Pavilion, which is the largest one at the exhibition.
The companies specialize in health care, agriculture, and information technology that are among Iran and Uzbekistan’s favorite fields for the purpose of expanding their cooperation.
In a meeting with the Uzbek minister of higher education in Tashkent, Dehghani underlined the need for the expansion of scientific and technological cooperation between the two countries and for the creation of a joint scientific and technological park with the investment of the private sector in the city of Samarkand. He said this scientific and technological park will be launched in the presence of knowledge-based groups and new businesses (startups).
The Iranian vice president added that preliminary consultations between the two countries will begin in the next two months, and both sides will be required to provide the infrastructure needed to set up the park.
The Uzbek minister of higher education welcomed the proposal, saying his country seeks to work with Iran.
Abdurakhmonov said the park will be established in Samarkand.
