Vice president: Iran can expand borders of science and technology diplomacy by scientific advisors

Iran has the potential to develop its technological exports with the goal of expanding Iranian-Islamic culture in order to establish technological authority, the Iranian vice president for science, technology and knowledge-based economy says, adding scientific advisors have a pivotal role in this path.
Rouhollah Dehghani made the remarks in the 6th Annual Meeting of Scientific Advisers in the Iranian capital Tehran with top scientific officials attending the event.
The vice president said, “The cultural benefits of exporting technological products are more than economic ones and they will have a tremendous impact on the world’s view of Iran’s abilities and capacities.”
He explained various institutions, including the Organization for Development of International Cooperation, can take up the role and push forward the economic and cultural goals in tandem, adding plans are underway to create a network to implement the capacities in order to achieve the goal.
Dehghani recalled two decades ago when the Iranian Leader raised the issue of software and scientific movement, the Persian Gulf littoral states were using science merely as a tool for creating wealth.
“But after they witnessed that Iran has gained credit due to scientific and technological advances and dialogue with the world, they too began to consider the role of science as an authority,” he noted.
