Iran vice president stresses women’s role in knowledge-based economy

Iran’s Vice President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy says the new administration of Massoud Pezeshkian emphasizes on the effective role of women in knowledge-based governance.
The newly-appointed vice president, Hossein Afshin, made the remarks in a meeting with a group of female technologists, entrepreneurs and academics, the information center of the vice president’s office reported.
Afshin pointed out women’s key role in the realization of policies for the development of knowledge-based economy and the prosperity of businesses in this field, noting that the vice president’s office in the new administration has special plans to improve the influence of women and use their capacities in the development and evolution of the ecosystem.
The participants in the meeting also expressed their readiness to cooperate with the scientific vice president for the development of knowledge-based economy, the growth of startups, and the support of elites.
They also singled out some of their concerns in their fields of activity and voiced their demands, among them the necessity to create a favorable atmosphere for the elites and entrepreneurs to return to the country, establishing a joint think tank between the vice president’s representatives and the female community, supporting innovative and knowledge-based projects and creating new financing mechanisms for knowledge-based and technological projects and products.
