‘Knowledge-based economy’ at the core of Iran-Venezuela cooperation

The 10th Joint Economic Cooperation Commission between Iran and Venezuela has concluded in Caracas, the deputy head of the Iranian Organization for the Development of International Scientific and Technological Cooperation (ODISTC) announced.
Zahra Sahaei said a major focus of the cooperation was on science and technology, with knowledge-based companies playing a central role in the discussions, according to the Communications and Information Center of the Iranian Vice Presidency for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy.
The Science and Technology Committee of Iran, supported by the ODISTC, facilitated the enhancement of technological interactions.
Emphasizing the significance of science and technology in international cooperation, Sahaei noted that this area was also stressed by Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
She mentioned that five knowledge-based companies with existing contracts with Venezuela were present in the event, pursuing new agreements and proposing joint production initiatives in Venezuela.
Discussions also included the imminent opening of the Iran-Venezuela Innovation and Technology Center, which was established following an agreement signed during late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s visit to Venezuela last year.
The joint commission, which commenced on November 19, with nine working committees covering technology, finance, banking, oil, energy, science, industry, mining, and agriculture, concluded on November 23 with Iran’s defense minister in attendance.
