Iran developing AI assistant for president, ministers

Iran is developing an artificial intelligence assistant for ranking officials, including the president, vice presidents, and cabinet ministers to act as a close aide, providing expert opinions swiftly, according to the Iranian vice president for science, technology, and knowledge-based economy.

Highlighting the crucial role of various headquarters within the vice presidency, Hossein Afshin told a press conference that plans are underway to consolidate the headquarters from 23 to around 9, aiming to enhance their effectiveness through AI, particularly in areas like water, energy, and the environment.

Afshin also cited the approval of Iran’s comprehensive AI plan on October 2, which aims to evaluate global AI advancements and ensure Iran’s competitive presence in the field.

“In this process, we have examined what actions the world has taken in the field of artificial intelligence, so that we can also play a major role in global competition,” he explained.

The AI assistant project, expected to be ready within six months, will be updated across all domains and capable of modeling when needed.

The final AI assistant project will be completed in collaboration with universities, coinciding with the start of Research and Technology Week staring on December 14.
