Iran’s knowledge-based firms reach $500mn in exports amid push for industrial progress

In an expert meeting entitled “Steps Forward in Developing the National Industrial Progress Document” in Iran, participants have underlined the crucial role of knowledge-based companies in advancing the country’s industrial growth.
The meeting was held during the 14th INOTEX exhibition at the Governance and Legislation Forum. The participants also underscored the importance of knowledge-based companies and the necessity of an industrial policy for the economic development of the country.
Amir Younesian, Director General of the Office for Evaluation and Diagnosis of Knowledge-Based Companies at the office of the Vice President for Science and Technology announced that knowledge-based companies had achieved a notable $500 million in exports in the past Persian year.
He described this figure as significant given that these companies are still in their early stages of development, highlighting the potential for further growth in the sector.
Younesian pointed out that knowledge-based companies are key drivers of science and technology and essential to the industrial progress of the country.
Meanwhile, Barzin Jafartash Amiri, an industrial policy researcher, spoke at the meeting. He addressed the misconceptions surrounding industrial policy in Iran.
Jafartash Amiri stressed the active role the government must play in this area and the need for a shift in the economic rules to benefit economic actors and encourage growth.
The meeting further underlined the necessity of strategic industrial policies to support knowledge-based companies and drive the nation toward sustained economic advancement.
