Iran, Uzbekistan explore new avenues for technological cooperation

Uzbekistan’s Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov visited Iran’s House of Innovation and Technology (iHiT) in Tehran, accompanied by Iran’s Vice President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, Hossein Afshin.
According to the Communications and Information Center of the Iranian Vice Presidency, the visit aimed to deepen scientific and technological collaboration between the two nations.
During the tour, Afshin highlighted the importance of firsthand exposure to Iranian innovations, noting that such visits enhance mutual understanding and open doors for technology transfer and joint ventures.
Aripov and his delegation explored various sectors, including creative industries, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, agriculture, and peaceful nuclear technology.
Special attention was given to Iran’s animation, gaming, and toy industries, which drew strong interest from the Uzbek side. Iran’s advanced pharmaceutical capabilities and self-sufficiency in drug production were also praised.
Talks also included proposals for establishing medical equipment production lines in Uzbekistan and strengthening cooperation in agriculture and nuclear technology.
Afshin stressed the strategic importance of neighboring markets and the Caspian region, expressing hope to double knowledge-based exports in the coming year.
Touraj Amraei, Deputy for Knowledge-Based Enterprises, outlined Iran’s robust tech ecosystem, boasting over 10,000 companies and generating $18 billion in annual revenue.
He emphasized Iran’s strengths in nanotechnology, biotech, and advanced machinery.
Iran also announced plans to open a branch of iHiT in Tashkent to further facilitate bilateral innovation exchanges.
