VP: Iranian knowledge-based companies have achieved annual sales of 1200 trillion rials

On Wednesday Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian visited the Vice-Presidency for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy to inspect accomplishments and key programs.

Vice President for Science and Technology Hossein Afshin outlined the new strategic focus on establishing advanced technological infrastructure, especially in emerging fields like quantum computing and artificial intelligence.

Afshin stressed the need for overcoming past challenges such as the lack of reference laboratories crucial for evaluating progress in innovative technologies.

He added that with collaboration from various institutions, essential infrastructure has now been developed, with the vice-presidency playing a central role in coordinating resources.

Afshin noted that the team consists mainly of talented young experts from top universities.

According to the vice-president, the knowledge-based companies network acts as an effective arm of the government, rapidly implementing initiatives like installing solar panels within a month.

Two specialized schools for gifted students are under construction in Shahriar with the support of knowledge-based ecosystem companies, aiming for completion by the new academic year.
Afshin noted that knowledge-based companies have achieved annual sales of 1200 trillion rials, including 500 million dollars in exports.

Afshin also outlined the private sector’s achievements in space technology, including a privately developed satellite successfully launched into orbit without military or government budget support.
