Tehran launches “Digital Iran” initiative to introduce students to artificial intelligence

A comprehensive roadmap for teaching artificial intelligence in schools across the country has been set in motion under the “Digital Iran” program. The initiative provides students with free, interactive, and gamified educational content, enabling them to simultaneously learn, practice, and compete in the field of AI.

Minister of Education Alireza Kazemi emphasized that, in cooperation with the Vice Presidency as well as the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, a detailed multi-phase roadmap has been designed for students and teachers.

Kazemi added that the training modules are designed to be entirely free, engaging, and delivered online in a game-based format.

The minister stressed that the Ministry of Education continued to send students to international competitions, ensuring that Iranian teams brought home numerous medals across six global science Olympiads.

He highlighted major achievements, including three gold and two silver medals in mathematics, four silver medals in chemistry, and five silver medals in physics, alongside strong performances in biology and economics Olympiads.

Meanwhile, Iran’s national AI team won two silver and two bronze medals at the 2nd International Olympiad on Artificial Intelligence, held in Beijing from August 2–9, 2025.
