Over 12,000 competitors join Iran’s 2025 Technology Olympiad

More than 12,000 participants from 65 countries are taking part in the second International Technology Olympiad, marking a twofold increase compared with last year’s event, according to Hossein Afshin, Vice President for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy.

Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, Afshin said the event, hosted at Pardis Technology Park, represents “a celebration of knowledge and creativity” and a symbol of “global solidarity toward a brighter and more advanced future.”

He emphasized that in today’s digital age, dominated by artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and renewable energy, nations that invest in human creativity and scientific collaboration will shape a smarter and more sustainable future.

The 2025 Olympiad features competitions in programming, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, Internet of Things (IoT), robotics, and drones.

Afshin said this year’s event also introduces an “Employment Station,” where profiles of participants and job opportunities from technology firms will be matched to promote talent recruitment.

Competitors from 15 countries, including Pakistan, Oman, Vietnam, Russia, Turkey, and the Netherlands, are participating this year.

Afshin noted that the Olympiad, launched nationally last year, is the first event of its kind worldwide aimed at showcasing technological capabilities and fostering international cooperation in innovation.
