Iran, China expand cooperation in emerging technologies

Iran and China have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening technological cooperation in areas such as clean energy, artificial intelligence and the digital economy during a high-level visit by a senior Chinese diplomat to Tehran.
According to the Iranian Vice-Presidency for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, Miao Deyu, China’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, visited Iran’s Innovation and Technology House on Monday, where he met with Hossein Rouzbeh, head of the International Scientific and Technological Cooperation Development Organization.
Rouzbeh highlighted Iran’s progress in developing domestic technology capabilities under international sanctions, saying the country’s innovation ecosystem has matured to a point where many capacities are now ready for global cooperation.
He described China as one of Iran’s most reliable partners and expressed Tehran’s readiness to pursue joint production projects with both Chinese government institutions and private sector companies.
Miao praised Iran’s scientific achievements and emphasized the importance of industrial independence amid global complexities.
He reaffirmed Beijing’s continued support for Iran and said China is eager to strengthen cooperation in fields such as renewable energy, environmental technologies, digital economy and AI.
He also noted China’s willingness to transfer electric-vehicle technologies to Iran and benefit from Iranian engineering expertise.
Both sides described the visit as a step toward expanding long-term technological collaboration.
