Knowledge-based software made in Iran boosts irrigation networks

An Iranian knowledge-based company has created a software system that helps to push the country’s irrigation network toward smartization.

Morteza Ghalambar, the CEO of Fannavaran Setareye Jonoub Company (the South Star Technological Firm), pointed to the design of irrigation boosting software systems and said, “We have made efforts to cut the country’s need for using foreign software through the creation of a research and development unit aimed at meeting the country’s needs and making the managers run the country’s industry by Iranian software.”
One of the firm’s fields of activity revolves around the water industry. Currently, there are 20 irrigation systems in the county, which need software that monitor the distribution of water, calculates the amount of water sold to each farmer, and keeps watch on the water discharge.
The South Star technological firm has managed to realize that goal by designing a software system for the irrigation network in the north of Iran’s Khuzestan Province.

Using an online map, the operator can keep the entire irrigation system under watch. The users in the field can also handle the issue of water sales to each farmer.
According to the managers, the software system is expected to be used in all the six irrigation systems of Khuzestan Province.
The Iranian Vice Presidency for Science and Technology is making efforts to reduce and minimize the rate of water waste in traditional irrigation networks.
