1,682 knowledge-based firms contributing to Iran’s electricity, electronics sector

Over the past years, Iranian knowledge-based companies have added vigor to domestic markets and decreased the need for imports in many fields, notably electricity and electronics.

According to the latest figures released by the Iranian Vice Presidency for Science and Technology, 1,682 knowledge-based companies are today contributing to the fields of electricity, electronics, photonics, telecommunications and automatic systems.

With their own products, the firms have managed to wean the country off most purchases from abroad and speed up domestic production.

This is while in the past, Iran had to pay large sums to buy technological products on the international markers, while harsh economic sanctions were posing challenges to the country’s foreign purchases.
