Science, technology key to economic progress: Official

A senior Iranian official says science and technology is a key contributor to economic progress in today’s world.
“The development of the global economy is contingent upon scientific progress,” said Rouhollah Dehghani, the Vice-president for Science, Technology and Knowledge-based Economy.
“Institutions are successful that that are able to utilize modern and cutting-edge technologies in their activities,” he explained.
He said all countries around the world are seeking to implement their programs in the domain of both micro-economics and macro-economics.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the official noted that entrepreneurs are the most patriotic individuals in a society.
“The elite can make progress by drawing on the experience of the country’s major entrepreneurs and through the cooperation of these invaluable people,” he said.
He then touched upon knowledge-based companies and compared them to train cars which need a locomotive to move forward.
He said major tech firms are like locomotives which, if properly connected to the train cars, will maintain the country’s scientific and economic progress.
