Iran set to expand scientific, technological cooperation with Zimbabwe

Iran is determined to develop its technological cooperation with Zimbabwe in aerospace, healthcare and agriculture fields in line with Tehran’s policy of forging closer all-out ties with African countries, the Iranian vice president for science, technology and knowledge-based economy says.

The vice presidential office’s Information Center reported that Rouhollah Dehghani announced the decision in a meeting with Zimbabwe’s minister of science and technology development.

Citing human capacities and natural resources as two special opportunities for Zimbabwe to cooperate with Iran, Dehghani said Zimbabwe is also a very rich country with natural attractions and abundant resources.

The vice president said, “We are quite rich in terms of hardware and software equipment and we are ready to transfer these technologies to Zimbabwe or establish companies there.”

In the field of medicine, he said Iran has the ability to produce a valuable and advanced collection of medical equipment for producing all kinds of advanced and recombinant drugs.

“Over 90 percent of the medicines consumed in the country and over 70 percent of the medical equipment needed in Iran are supplied and produced by domestic knowledge-based companies,” he explained.

He also underlined that Tehran and Harare hold similar political views in the international arena and appreciated its supportive stance for Palestine in the face of the incessant Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.
