Iran president appoints Hossein Afshin as vice president for science

Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian has appointed Hossein Afshin as the Vice-President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy.

According to the information center of the vice president’s office, President Pezeshkian, in a decree, said he expects Afshin to “fulfill the objectives of the vision document and general policies approved by the Leader… interact with the cabinet ministers, and try diligently to achieve the government’s goals and solve the country’s problems.”

President Pezeshkian has also praised Afshin’s scientific and professional background. 

Afshin, 44, is a professor of mechanical engineering at Iran’s prestigious Sharif University of Technology.
