Iranian knowledge-based company indigenizes bipolar surgical scissors

An Iranian knowledge-based company has succeeded in producing bipolar surgical scissors (a handpiece for vascular occlusion).
Abdolreza Asrar, CEO of the company, said the firm has put two major national projects on its agenda: a flexible endoscopy grand project starting in 2019, and the vascular blockage handpiece project starting in 2022.
Asrar said the first one was completed in 2022 and the second one is currently in its final stages after progressing over 95%.
He added that prototyping has been completed in the grand design of bipolar surgical scissors.
According to Asrar, many tests have been conducted to this end and almost all the standards have been implemented. “We will receive the final license soon”, Asrar added.
He also noted that the future of all surgeries is moving towards flexible endoscopy in which the least amount of damage is caused to the body.
Asrar added that vascular occlusion handpieces make surgery easier for both the doctor and the patient and reduce the length of operations, usually taking three hours, to 20 minutes.
He underscored that the advantage of the product for the patient is that they no longer need stitches and the anesthesia time is greatly reduced.
Asrar said the company has the capacity to produce 200 types of flexible endoscopy devices of various types per annum including at least 10,000 vascular occlusion handpieces.
