Iran ranks fourth in developing international nanotechnology standards

Iran has become the fourth most active member in the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) for nanotechnology standards, contributing to 12 out of the 111 standards published so far, which highlights Iran’s significant role in the field.

According to the Communication and Information Center of the Iranian Vice Presidency for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy, a meeting titled “Consultative Meeting on New Nanotechnology International Standards Projects” was held on October 1 at the Nano Headquarters.

Experts from the National Standards Organization, Nano Headquarters, project leaders of international nano standards, and specialists with international experience attended the meeting to discuss and review new proposals to be submitted by Iran to ISO, making necessary revisions to the projects.

During the meeting, three proposals for new international standards were presented by the project managers.

Developing international standards typically takes two to three years, requiring global consensus among ISO member countries. Members of the technical committees provide various expert opinions throughout the different stages of standard development to complete and enhance the standards.

The ISO’s nanotechnology standards technical committee includes 40 main member countries and 16 observer member states.
