An Iranian knowledge-based company has designed a specialized tablet for the blind called the “Smart Braille Tablet,” offering various features to reduce limitations and increase access to Persian texts.
The tablet manufactured by Pactos includes a Braille keyboard and display, along with audio output, enabling the blind to read and write texts.
Founded in 1991, Pactos is the first and only producer of electronic equipment for the blind in Iran.
The CEO of the company, Saeed Sadeghpour Vajdi, says that the new tablet, equipped with essential software like an editor and file reader, significantly impacts the daily and educational lives of the blind.
The product has been specially provided to public libraries across the country and used in various projects, including equipping 40 sections for the blind in libraries with support from different institutions.
Additionally, professional training projects for the blind in underprivileged areas are ongoing.
With an annual production capacity of 350 devices, Pactos has showcased its capabilities in the global market as the only producer of this type of tablet in the country.
Pactos has been active in assistive technologies for the blind since 1994, continuously producing software and equipment to improve their quality of life.
