Iranian knowledge-based company unveils affordable 3D bioprinter
In a significant advancement for medical technology, an Iranian knowledge-based company has introduced a modular 3D bioprinter at the 12th Iran Made Exhibition.
The CEO of Abtin Teb Fanavar highlighted the printer’s unique modular design, which facilitates easy part replacement and versatile printing options. This allows customization for specific projects, bolstering the market for specialized medical products.
The company reports that its bioprinters have been successfully adopted by several universities, contributing substantially to the nation’s foreign currency earnings.
The innovative device promises to cut production costs by 50 percent compared to foreign counterparts.
Founded in 2017 and based in Iran’s prestigious Pardis Technology Park, Abtin Teb Fanavar focuses on creating tissue substitutes and cutting-edge 3D printing solutions.
The company launched its operations with the backing of the Iranian Vice Presidency for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy aiming to enhance local production capabilities.
The journey began with the development of a specialized 3D printer for polymer and ceramic components.
After rigorous testing and optimization in collaboration with medical universities in Tehran and Isfahan, the second version, called Abtin II, hit the market in 2019.
They later introduced the export-ready Modular 3D Bioprinter, targeting medical applications in 2020.
