Iranian innovators participated in the 9th BRICS Young Scientists Forum and the 7th Young Innovators Award, showcasing their talents on an international stage. Supported by the International Scientific and Technological Cooperation Development Organization and the Presidential Center for Transformation and Advancement, a team of young Iranian scientists attended this significant event held in Sochi, Russia, from November 25 to 29, 2024.
The forum featured 30 young innovators from eight BRICS countries, including Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, the UAE, Egypt, and Iran. Among them were eight young scientists and four innovators from Iran.
The event focused on innovative ideas in various fields such as green technologies, food industries, chemistry, agriculture, and artificial intelligence.
Judging was conducted by a panel of eight representatives from the participating countries, evaluating projects based on business models, feasibility, and future perspectives.
This was a historic moment for Iran as it marked the first participation of an Iranian team in this innovative competition since the country’s recent membership in BRICS. Seyed Mohammad Karbasi, a judge at the event, noted the active involvement of the Iranian team and highlighted the collaborative potential established through bilateral meetings during the forum.
Ultimately, Brazil, China, and Russia secured top honors while the project of Somayyeh Sohrabi from Iran received special recognition.
