President Pezeshkian underlines AI’s role in D-8 countries’ development

Iran’s President Massoud Pezeshkian has underscored the critical role of advanced technologies and knowledge-based companies in fostering collaboration among D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation member states, emphasizing the value of human capital and modern technologies like artificial intelligence. 

Speaking at the 11th D-8 Summit in the Egyptian capital, President Pezeshkian stressed the importance of leveraging innovative technologies to enhance economic cooperation and resilience among member states, according to the Communications and Information Center of the Iranian Vice Presidency for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy. 

He noted that investing in the potential of youth is the most productive strategy for national and collective benefits. 

Pezeshkian highlighted the role of young specialists in driving progress and suggested initiatives to support young entrepreneurs, including creating a joint D-8 idea and investment bank, establishing shared science and technology parks, and organizing scientific and technological exchanges. 

He called for collective efforts to harness AI and manage its impacts, proposing that the summit issue guidelines for the optimal use of modern technologies to enhance economic resilience. 

The president expressed hope for accelerated trade among D-8 members under Egypt’s presidency, with barter playing a crucial role in increasing trade volume. 

He emphasized the need for new multilateral ties among Islamic countries based on development and collective benefits.
