Venezuelan VP and science min. meets with Iranian vice president for science and tech

Venezuela’s Vice President and Minister of Science and Technology Gabriela Jimenez has met with Iranian Vice President for Science and Technology Rouhollah Dehghani Firoozabadi. 

During the meeting, Dehghani said the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology had “a pivotal role” in rallying other government organizations to induce knowledge-based economy. 

He said the Iranian administration had delegated leadership in the field of knowledge-based economy to his vice presidency. 

The Iranian official expressed willingness to cooperate with Venezuela in such fields as stem cells, nanotechnology, biotechnology, agriculture, animal husbandry, “and other strategic areas.” 

Venezuela’s Vice President and Minister of Science and Technology Gabriela Jimenez pointed to Iran’s “admirable and considerable” scientific and technological achievements and said, “Iran’s technological capabilities and accomplishments are a valuable pattern for and basic to the growth of cooperation between the two countries.” 

She said Iran and Venezuela had cooperated scientifically in the past, during the COVID-19 pandemic, and stressed that such cooperation had to continue.
