Iran to establish innovation holding for advanced knowledge-based companies

Iran’s Vice President for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy announced the establishment of an “Innovation and Technology Holding” during the closing ceremony of the Petrofan 2024 conference.
Hossein Afshin emphasized that this initiative aims to create a comprehensive network for mature knowledge-based companies that have reached significant developmental milestones.
Afshin likened the evolution of Iran’s knowledge-based ecosystem to a young individual entering adulthood. He stated that while the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology, founded in 2006, has matured, continuous innovation and forward-looking strategies remain essential.
Afshin stressed that achieving “knowledge-based” status for companies is not a permanent label. Companies must sustain innovation and growth to remain on the list; otherwise, they risk being delisted.
Afshin said, “Three things are unsustainable: wealth without trade, knowledge without discourse, and governance without strategy.” He added a fourth element: industries without technology.
The Iranian Vice President highlighted the need for robust networking within the knowledge-based ecosystem and hailed events like Petrofan for fostering such connections.
The forthcoming Innovation Holding, he noted, will ensure the continued progress and self-reliance of Iran’s advanced companies, bolstering the country’s technological landscape.
