Iran, Ethiopia strengthen collaboration in knowledge-based economy, artificial intelligence

Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf says the country has a huge potential for extensive cooperation in knowledge-based economy sectors, including healthcare, artificial intelligence, and medical equipment.

According to the communications center of the Office of the Iranian Vice President for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy, Qalibaf was speaking at a meeting with his Ethiopian counterpart while visiting the African country.

He referred to Ethiopia’s economic growth and its efforts toward sustainable development, saying thanks to its large population and effective economic position, Ethiopia presents a suitable opportunity for expanding economic relations with Iran.

Qalibaf expressed concern over the lack of a joint economic commission.

He said the commission has not convened for over a decade, which hinders economic collaboration.

Qalibaf underlined that his visit to Addis Ababa is, among others, aimed at setting of the commission.

In other remarks, he stated that Iran possesses significant strengths in knowledge-based fields, healthcare sector, artificial intelligence, and medical equipment, which can facilitate collaboration with Ethiopia.

The Iranian parliament speaker also noted that utilizing the BRICS forum’s capacities can help enhance economic and financial relations and also help resolve banking problems.
