Iran has established the first specialized innovation center in northewest of the country to create a bond between sci-tech developments and agricultural products with an eye on increasing the exports.

The center, known as APEIC, was launched in a ceremony in Zanjan province with Iranian Vice-President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy Rouhollah Dehghani in attendance.

APEIC is tipped to promote agricultural products by getting startups and knowledge-based companies involved in the supply and completion of the food chain.

The center will support innovative and technological ideas in all aspects of food production and agriculture, including harvesting, packaging, marketing and sales of products.
