Iran to launch AI assistants for president and ministers

The Iranian government is set to integrate artificial intelligence into its governance system. Iran’s Vice President for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy Hussein Afshin announced the commencement of a project aimed at developing AI assistants for the country’s president and ministers.

This initiative will rely on the “National AI Platform” to enhance decision-making processes within government ministries.

In a coordination meeting held on Wednesday, Afshin noted that selected universities will implement these AI systems across various organizations, including the health, economy, industry ministries, and the Environment Protection Organization.

The primary goal, he said, is to use AI in order to facilitate informed decision-making by providing the high-ranking officials with real-time data analysis and insights.

Afshin underlined that these AI assistants will not only help with immediate decision-making but also assist in evaluating the long-term consequences of government actions.

While noting that promoting a model and a domestic AI platform requires the involvement of Iran’s academics and researchers, Afshin said the creativity and innovation of such people play a strategic role in the development and transformation of the platform.
