Iran-made device converts DC to AC with desired frequency, voltage

An Iranian company has made an electronic circuit converter that converts direct electric current to alternating current with desired frequency and voltage.

Fatemeh Nasrollahzadeh, a member of the board of the directors at the engineering Pooya Sanat Madar company that made the converter, says the device reduces Iran’s need for imports.

She explained, “A converter consists of electronic components called inductors and capacitors, which slowly increase or decrease the output current. Converters can be used together with transformers to convert a certain direct current input voltage to a completely different alternating current output voltage.”

“The converter can produce more than 90 percent useful energy. When the on and off switch is activated, the electric pulses are produced directly, so in order to produce an alternating current, the current must be reversed 50 to 60 times in one second, which is done by the converter،” Nasrollahzadeh further said.

Producing the converter has created about 10 job opportunities, the knowledge-based company said, adding it expects to create more in the future.
