Iran emphasizes sustainable economic model for AI development at international conference

The Iranian Vice President for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy has highlighted the necessity of a “sustainable economic model” for the development of artificial intelligence (AI) during the first International AI Conference and “PolTalk” event.

According to the Communications and Information Center of the vice presidency, Hossein Afshin stressed that AI development must be grounded in a sustainable economic framework to attract private sector investment.

He noted that AI in Iran has evolved significantly since 2010, transitioning from theoretical discussions to practical applications in autonomous vehicles, medical guidance systems, and traffic management.

Today, AI is driving innovation in oil, healthcare, smart cities, and industrial projects, marking a shift from academia to real-world implementation, he elaborated.

The vice president also emphasized the role of “PolTalk” event as a bridge between government, industry, and academia, fostering collaboration and transforming scientific concepts into marketable products.

He described the event as a platform for creating a shared language among stakeholders and attracting investment to advance Iran’s AI ecosystem.

The conference, held on February 25 in Tehran brought together industry leaders, researchers, and policymakers under the theme “AI for All.”
