Iran launches AI training program for 1 million students, 100,000 teachers

Iran has announced a nationwide initiative to train one million students and 100,000 teachers in AI technologies, according to the Communications and Information Center of the Iranian Vice-Presidency for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy.

The program, a collaboration between the vice presidency and the ministry of education, aims to equip the next generation with essential skills in this transformative field.

Vice President Hossein Afshin, in a meeting on Tuesday with Education Minister Alireza Kazemi, emphasized the critical role of AI in shaping the future of nations.

He acknowledged that while Iran’s efforts in this domain have started later than some countries, the new initiative represents a forward-looking approach to fostering expertise and innovation in AI.

Afshin said the first phase of the program is set to begin in summer 2025, targeting students aged 7 to 15 and their teachers, adding the curriculum will include innovative and engaging modules, combining theoretical knowledge with practical applications to ensure effective learning.

Afshin highlighted that the program is designed to inspire future specialists and create a strong foundation for AI development in Iran.
