Iran launches national AI education program for one million students

Iran has officially begun implementing a comprehensive artificial intelligence training initiative targeting one million school students, according to an announcement by Mojtaba Alizadeh, assistant to the Iranian Vice President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy.
The program, scheduled to launch in May, will provide free AI education througqh a dedicated platform accessible to all citizens, with special focus on students aged 7-15, as reported by the Vice Presidency’s Communications and Information Center.
“The first phase includes parallel training for 100,000 teachers and parents to better understand AI technology and support children’s learning,” Alizadeh stated during the program’s unveiling.
Developed by the Vice Presidency’s office in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, the curriculum combines theoretical and practical components designed to make AI learning engaging for young learners.
Officials describe the initiative as a strategic investment in human capital development, aiming to position Iran competitively in emerging technologies.
“The program represents our commitment to nurturing specialized talent in critical fields like AI and quantum technologies,” Alizadeh emphasized, noting this aligns with national priorities for technological sovereignty.
The training platform will cover fundamental AI concepts while developing applicable skills through interactive modules.
