Global innovation index: Iran ranks 43 in creative outputs

In the latest report by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Iran has secured the 43rd position worldwide in terms of creative outputs on the Global Innovation Index (GII).

Within the Central and South Asian region, Iran stands at an impressive second place.

Notably, the pillars of “market complexity,” “creative outputs,” and “knowledge and technology outputs” have positioned Iran at the 19th, 43rd, and 55th spots globally.

Iran’s commendable performance places it among 132 countries assessed in the GII, ranking 62nd overall.

Remarkably, Iran holds the 6th position among the 37 countries categorized as low-middle income nations.

Furthermore, Iran shines as the second-highest performer among the 10 countries within Central and South Asia.

One notable highlight is Iran’s position above the trend line in the correlation between GDP per capita and innovation performance, indicating a better-than-expected performance concerning its income level.

The country’s exceptional performance in market complexity pillars, particularly creative and technology outputs, underscores its potential in the global innovation landscape.

However, the report also emphasizes the need for focused efforts in improving certain infrastructures, regulations, and policies to further enhance Iran’s innovation landscape.
