Chinese Vice Premier: China Ready to Deepen Scientific and Technological Cooperation with Iran

The Chinese Vice Premier, during a meeting with the Vice President for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-based Economy of Iran, reaffirmed China’s readiness to enhance scientific and technological collaboration with Iran under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.

According to the Communications and Information Center of the Iranian Vice Presidency for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-based Economy — quoting Chinese news sources — on June 9, Ding Xuexiang, Vice Premier of China, met with Hossein Afshin, Iran’s Vice President for Science and Technology, on the sidelines of the Second Belt and Road Conference on Science and Technology Exchange in Chengdu, Sichuan Province.

During the meeting, Ding emphasized the importance of agreements reached between the two countries’ leaders and stated:
“China is willing to work jointly with Iran to effectively implement the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations and to further elevate the quality of cooperation within the Belt and Road framework. We also seek to fully unlock the potential for collaboration in science and technology, so as to bring more tangible benefits to the people of both countries.”

In response, Afshin expressed Iran’s strong interest in strengthening bilateral ties with China, saying:
“Iran is eager to deepen people-to-people connections with China and is committed to advancing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, aiming to achieve new progress in scientific and technological cooperation.”
