Iranian startup develops indigenous positioner for oil, gas, and power industries

An Iranian tech firm has successfully developed an indigenous positioner device capable of controlling key variables such as temperature, pressure, and fluid flow in critical industries like oil, gas, mining, and power generation, the Center for Communications of the Iranian Vice Presidency for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy reported.
Vira Control Instrumentation Development Company, a member of the Iran International Innovation Region, has leveraged its extensive experience in servicing imported instrumentation to design and manufacture its own smart positioners.
Company CEO Saeed Shafiei explained that positioners are precision instruments used to regulate control valves, enabling accurate management of industrial processes.
“We serviced and repaired over 1,400 positioners of various international brands before entering the production phase, giving us unmatched insight into their weaknesses,” he said.
After two years of providing technical services, the company launched its first product, which was tested successfully at a gas compressor station.
The device reportedly outperforms foreign models, especially in harsh environments like Ahvaz, and operates continuously for up to two years without recalibration.
The company is now the only knowledge-based manufacturer of positioners in Iran, offering a high-performance domestic alternative to costly foreign imports.
