Iran’s VP congratulates Iranian national team on astronomy Olympiad victory

Iran’s Vice President for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy Hossein Afshin has congratulated the Iranian national team for their outstanding performance at the 18th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA 2025). 

The team achieved first place globally and secured five gold medals. In his message, Afshin praised the students’ talent, perseverance, and dedication, noting that their success reinforces Iran’s prominent position in global scientific competitions. 

He underscored that the victory not only brings national pride but also demonstrates that the country’s human capital is its most valuable asset for a bright and flourishing future. 

The head of the National Elites Foundation reaffirmed the body’s commitment to supporting elite students both nationally and internationally. 

Afshin further encouraged the young winners to continue their pursuit of knowledge, excellence, and the honor of representing Iran on the world stage.
