Tabriz leads national solar panel installation project in Iran

Iran has launched a nationwide initiative to install solar panels on government buildings across the country, with northwestern city of Tabriz becoming the first in the country to fully implement the project, officials announced.
According to the Iranian Vice Presidency for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy, the program aims to promote the use of clean energy and encourage citizens to adopt solar technology at home.
Hossein Afshin, Vice President for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy, made the announcement during his visit to East Azarbaijan Province, noting that the first panels were installed in Tabriz during Government Week.
“We are pleased that Tabriz is leading this effort. This shows the government is starting with itself to encourage people to use the clean technology on their rooftops,” Afshin said, praising the swift cooperation of East Azarbaijan Governor Bahram Sarmast, which enabled panel installation within just 24 hours.
Afshin also confirmed that Mazandaran will be the second province to join the project.
Governor Sarmast highlighted Tabriz’s reputation as the “City of Firsts,” adding that the city’s leadership in adopting solar energy will serve as a model for other government offices nationwide.
