Iran, China to speed up scientific, tech cooperation

Hossein Rouzbeh, President of the Organization for the Development of Scientific and Technological Cooperation, underlined the longstanding friendly ties between Iran and China.
He then stressed the necessity of deepening and expediting bilateral collaboration in the fields of science and technology.
During a visit by Zhong Peiwu, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Tehran’s House of Technology and Innovation (iHIT), Rouzbeh highlighted that Iran and China, as two ancient civilizations with a profound history of cooperation in science, technology, economy, and trade, have laid the foundation for expanded future partnerships.
He noted that with over 10,000 knowledge-based companies now active in Iran, backed by skilled human resources, there exists vast potential for joint projects.
Rouzbeh referred to the recent visit of Iran’s Vice President for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy to China, where important agreements were signed with the Chinese Minister of Science and Deputy Prime Minister. These memoranda cover key areas such as artificial intelligence and the establishment of a joint laboratory network among countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative.
He emphasized that Iran is fully prepared to implement these agreements and expects the prompt signing of a joint cooperation document to launch bilateral programs.
He further noted that collaboration in artificial intelligence could yield valuable global outcomes, while the creation of a Belt and Road laboratory network would enhance international scientific engagement.
He also pointed to planned exchanges of researchers, young scientists, and academic elites, alongside joint participation of Iranian and Chinese knowledge-based companies in exhibitions, as important elements of the cooperation agenda.
Rouzbeh stressed that bilateral cooperation is not limited to high technology alone but extends to fields such as environment, agriculture, health, and medicine. He also announced that Iran’s first House of Innovation and Technology in China would be inaugurated in the coming months, serving as a secure channel for private sector partnerships.
Chinese Ambassador Zhong Peiwu, while touring Iranian technology companies, praised Iran’s historical achievements and modern scientific progress, stating that Iran and China, as two great civilizations, possess immense capacity for cooperation.
He pointed out that the recent high-level Iranian delegation visit to China underscored the depth of bilateral ties and expressed confidence that the scope of cooperation would continue to expand.
