Iran’s First VP stresses development of artificial intelligence as a strategic priority

Mohammad Reza Aref, Iran’s First Vice President, underscored that one of the most vital and strategic actions for the country at present is the advancement and application of artificial intelligence technologies.

Aref praised the prominent role played by Iran’s scientific elites in the Supreme Council for the Development and Application of Artificial Intelligence, noting their significant contributions to knowledge production and technological progress.

He stressed the need for a “leap forward” in the development of AI, explaining that the government has drawn up a three-year program aimed at fulfilling the long-term vision of attaining the first regional rank in advanced technologies.

Aref urged the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology to place advanced technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, at the top of its agenda.

He remarked that AI is a strategic priority for the country, one that all research councils and institutions should align themselves with.

Highlighting the enthusiasm shown by various sectors for the formation of the Council for the Development and Application of AI, Aref stated that this unity of purpose is a promising sign of rapid and serious progress.

He emphasized the need for a national division of labor in this field and called for coordination, solidarity, and effective use of existing human resources to move forward toward tangible and positive results.
