Iran, Russia launch cooperation in AI ethics

Iran’s Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Technologies Development Headquarters and Russia’s Artificial Intelligence Ethics Commission have signed an agreement to initiate cooperation in the field of Artificial Intelligence ethics. 

The Communication and Information Center of the Iranian Vice President’s Office for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy reported that the Iranian AI development headquarters head Behrouz Minaei and the Russian commission’s Andrey Neznamov signed the deal aimed at opening up new horizons in the field. 

The Iranian vice president’s office highlighted the importance of establishing a safe environment for the development of artificial intelligence technologies in accordance with the principles of equality and mutual cooperation by taking the interests of both parties into consideration. 

The deal is expected to provide the grounds for both sides to exchange ideas and promote Islamic ethics and information in the field based on the principles of “equality and mutual cooperation.” 

Sharing experiences in the implementation of the ethical principles of artificial intelligence between the two parties and holding of short-term advanced artificial intelligence training courses are among the other objectives of the agreement.
