AI assistants to support smarter governance in Iran

Iran’s Vice President for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy Hossein Afshin has once again highlighted the role of AI assistants in improving government decision-making.

Speaking on the sidelines of the second demo session for AI assistants in state institutions, Afshin said the main goal is to help officials make faster, more accurate, and more informed decisions.

He noted that government decision-making requires accurate data, awareness of legal frameworks, and comprehensive assessments.

According to the vice president, currently, this process relies heavily on experts and specialized networks.

While effective, Afshin said, this can be slow and sometimes dependent on a small number of individuals.

He went on to say that if one expert makes a mistake or leaves office, the entire system can be affected.

By using AI assistants, Afshin noted, these risks can be reduced.

The technology can provide real-time data analysis, legal references, and consultative answers to managers, experts, and ministers simultaneously, he maintained.

The vice president added that this speeds up the process and ensures consistency in decision-making.

In other remarks, he underlined that the project aims to strengthen “smart governance” by combining human expertise with AI-powered support tools. According to Afshin, these assistants will not replace experts but will act as partners to improve efficiency and reliability in government operations.
