Iranian innovation in power grid tech secures U.S. patent

With the support of the Intellectual Property Management Center of the Vice Presidency for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, an Iranian innovation in diagnosing malfunctions in electrical substations has been officially granted a patent by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

The invention, developed by the knowledge-based company Electroniksazan Fan Aria, is titled “Method and Testing Device for Detecting Loop Faults in Current Transformers.”
It forms part of the advanced diagnostic system Kavosh, a comprehensive testing platform for substation equipment.

This patented technology focuses specifically on testing and diagnosing current transformers—vital components of power substations—enhancing the reliability and safety of power grid operations.

The recognition of this patent by one of the world’s most prestigious intellectual property authorities underscores the high capacity of Iranian knowledge-based companies in developing strategic technologies.
It also demonstrates that targeted investment in research and development can lead to globally competitive, export-oriented products.
