Iranian scientist presents AI solutions for crisis management at BRICS forum

An Iranian researcher has highlighted the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in addressing environmental challenges during the 10th BRICS Young Scientists Forum, held in Brasília, Brazil, from September 14 to 18.
Sadra Karimzadeh, associate professor at the University of Tabriz and head of its Remote Sensing Laboratory, represented Iran at the event.
In his presentation, titled “Environmental Changes, Remote Sensing, and Artificial Intelligence,” he discussed how AI and satellite-based monitoring technologies can support crisis management and improve responses to environmental hazards.
Karimzadeh, recognized as Iran’s leading young researcher for the forum, was among a 12-member Iranian delegation from universities including Tabriz, Tehran, Isfahan, Amirkabir, and Iran University of Science and Technology.
His participation was supported under the “Connect” program of the International Development Organization for Scientific and Technological Cooperation, aimed at strengthening scientific diplomacy and enhancing Iran’s presence in global forums.
The BRICS Young Scientists Forum, along with the BRICS Young Innovator Prize, serves as a key platform for knowledge exchange among researchers from BRICS countries, with Iran participating for the first time as a new member.
Karimzadeh emphasized that emerging technologies can significantly improve quality of life across BRICS nations and beyond.
