Iran leverages returning experts to boost intl. tech collaboration

The International Scientific and Technological Cooperation Organization (ISTCO) and Iranian specialists who have returned to the country from abroad under the “Connect” program held a third consultative meeting, which highlights the critical role of these experts in advancing global technological partnerships.
According to the office of the Iranian vice-president for science, technology, and knowledge-based economy, the meeting aimed to expand scientific interactions, enhance tech cooperation between Iran and other countries.
It also sought to explore pathways for returning specialists to contribute to the nation’s knowledge-based economy.
Head of ISTCO Hussein Rouzbeh and Director of the Connect initiative Seyed Ali Hosseini attended the meeting alongside 20 Iranian specialists who had returned from countries including the US, Canada, Switzerland, Sweden, Germany, and Italy.
Their diverse academic and industrial backgrounds span nanotechnology, advanced materials, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, medical devices, stem cells, and agri-tech.
Rouzbeh underlined the organization’s mission to create sustainable connections between Iranian experts abroad and domestic research and industrial institutions, promoting knowledge transfer, networking, and joint projects.
Meanwhile, Hosseini spoke about Connect’s platform, which facilitates targeted collaboration, develops a database of returning specialists, and aligns their expertise with national technological needs.
The program aims to ensure that the return of Iranian experts translates into tangible contributions to science, innovation, and priority technological projects within the country.
