Iran develops domestic RTV silicone coating to prevent power outages

Iranian knowledge-based company Moniran Niroo Sanat has successfully mastered the production of RTV silicone coating, eliminating the country’s reliance on imports of the critical material for the first time.
The technology plays a key role in preventing unplanned power outages, reducing foreign currency dependency, and enhancing the reliability of Iran’s electricity network.
According to CEO Monireh Taghvai, the company achieved the milestone with support from the Iranian Vice-Presidency for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy as well as the Ministry of Energy.
She emphasized that RTV silicone coating is a specialized insulating material used in electrical substations and power networks, particularly vital in areas with high industrial pollution or humidity. Globally, this coating is recognized as a standard solution to prevent frequent power outages in such challenging conditions.
Taghvai noted that due to the high technical complexity of manufacturing RTV silicone, only a few countries worldwide possess this capability. With domestic production, Iran now joins the group of nations that control this advanced technology.
She added that the locally produced RTV coating matches or exceeds the quality and durability of European products, while offering significantly lower costs, longer service life, and improved accessibility for domestic users.
This innovation is expected to strengthen the resilience and efficiency of Iran’s power infrastructure.
