Indonesia stresses expansion of scientific, technological cooperation with Iran

Indonesia says it’s very interested in expanding bilateral cooperation with Iran in science, technology, innovation, and technology transfer, with Jakarta’s ambassador in Tehran hailing the Islamic Republic’s significant scientific and technological capabilities.
Speaking during a meeting with Head of the Organization for the Development of International Scientific and Technological Cooperation Hossein Roozbeh at Iran’s House of Innovation and Technology, Indonesian Ambassador Rulyan Shah Somirat described his visit to Iran’s scientific and technological exhibitions as highly impressive.
He said the displays offered a clear picture of Iran’s innovative capacity and represented only a fraction of the country’s broader achievements.
The ambassador welcomed the recent opening of Iran’s Innovation and Technology House in Jakarta, calling it an important step toward deepening bilateral ties. Somirat said the center could facilitate joint projects, technology transfer, and closer collaboration between companies and research institutions from both countries.
The ambassador of Indonesia underlined that the country’s new government places special priority on international partnerships in science and technology.
He noted that emerging technologies, innovation, and knowledge exchange would form the core of future cooperation with Iran.
Somirat said the two countries represent not only major markets for technological products and services but also significant human capital for scientific development.
The ambassador identified human resource development, education, food security, and energy security as Indonesia’s top priorities.
He also pointed to Indonesia’s advances in healthcare, including robotic surgery and telemedicine, and expressed readiness for cooperation with Iran in medical and biotechnology fields.
Both sides also discussed strengthening institutional ties, organizing joint exhibitions and workshops, and creating sustainable platforms for collaboration.
