Iranian experts develop biodegradable products with plastic-like properties

Experts at an Iranian knowledge-based company have managed to develop plant products with properties similar to those of plastic, taking a step forward toward the protection of the environment and reduction of plastic waste.

“This company was established with the idea of producing biodegradable polymers and was stationed at the sci-tech park of [the central Iranian city of] Isfahan and, finally, following research and efforts by its experts, managed to patent this product,” Seyyed Saeed Hashemizadeh the firm’s CEO was quoted as saying while explaining the approach adopted by the company to further protect the environment and remove plastic materials from human life.
“The most important product made by this knowledge-based company is disposable herbal dishes with properties and quality similar to those of polymer products,” added the CEO.
“In fact, with the help of the company’s experts, we have been able to produce products which are biodegradable, won’t harm the environment, are made from corn starch, and at the same time, have the quality and positive properties of polymer products, too,” the company chief explained.
