Iranian company produces intelligent system to register body movements for rehabilitation

Experts at a knowledge-based company in Iran have designed and produced a smart system used in registering body movements that can help patients in physical rehabilitation centers recover faster.
The head of the company, Mohammad Abedini Najaf Abadi, said the inertial motion recording system includes a number of modules that are installed on different parts of the body.
He added each module includes an accelerometer, a gyroscopes, and three-axis magnetometers, whose data are simultaneously read in the internal processors of each module and sent to a central processor after calibration.
The company has developed a sensor information fusion algorithm which combines the data collected in the central processor, Najaf Abadi explained.
The CEO noted the device is one of the few inertial motion recording systems that, besides estimating the orientation, can also estimate the position and geometry of body parts online.
He believes the product developed in his company has several advantages, including higher accuracy than similar inertial devices and lower cost than optical ones, which are made with expensive cameras to record movements and yet they are confined to the laboratory environment.
Najaf Abadi said the production of sensor modules and processors, and also components and raw materials, packaging and distribution will directly and indirectly create job opportunities at home.
