Uzbekistan to open market to Iranian knowledge-based companies and startups

Uzbekistan has agreed to open up its market to Iranian knowledge-based companies and startups.

The agreement was reached by the two countries during a meeting of the Iran-Uzbekistan Joint Technological Cooperation Group in Uzbekistan chaired by Iran’s vice president for Science, Technology and Knowledge-based Economy.

The sessions coincided with Uzbekistan’s InnoWeek 2023 expo. Iranian Vice President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-based Economy Rouhollah Dehghani Firouzabadi and Uzbekistan’s Minister of Higher Education Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov agreed to support the expansion of direct cooperation between the knowledge-based companies of the two nations.

Dehghani said the efforts by Iran aimed at technological exchanges are paying off today, adding, “I believe that the expansion of cooperation between Iran and Uzbekistan in the form of joint startup and environmental projects can help with the development of the two countries in the future.”

The Islamic Republic of Iran has the largest pavilion in Uzbekistan’s InnoWeek 2023 with the participation of 25 Iranian knowledge-based companies.
